TOPIC IDEA: March 20, 2013 My ideas for the group project topic were to include something that I have a good amount of knowledge about. My idea was that we should make a comprehensive video of what I like to call "Balling on a Budget" or in other words, looking good but spending less. I think this is a funny yet informational idea on how to look good as a college student in different environments without sacrificing too much money. My ideas include finding a number of ways to save cash and still impress your peers. Balling on a Budget is more of a slang way of saying it, with the term "ballin" meaning impressing, or showing off, usually your financial position. Another fall back idea we had was how to tie a tie, and also how to bake a lasagna in case our first video "Balling on a Budget" doesn't work out.
Group Project Reflection:
After this group project done by Kaymen, Jose and myself, I have a few initial reactions to how our finished product came out. First, I would like to say I enjoyed working with the group and in a group with my classmates. Sharing ideas and using more than one brain I feel is always better than working alone. That being said, meeting up at a convenient time for the whole group was tough and I would have liked more class time to get together and share thoughts about the project with my group. Now to get into an analysis of what we actually did in order to come up with a finished product. As a group we came up with an idea to do ballin on a budget, this video was to show kids how to look different, stand out, and look good all while saving money. Incorporating the animation into our video was the first problem that we faced as a team. We overcame this at first by testing out a number of different ways to use animation online and then in the end came up with an idea to use powerpoint to explain what we needed to, and also incorporate animation to show an example. All and all this idea would prosper for us as a group and our idea flourished. One thing that I would have fixed is to have our powerpoints spoke over using audiacity so we could be more informative to the class but the time constraint of this assignment stopped us from finishing that portion. Overall I enjoyed this project and it opened me up to learning how to incorporate powerpoint into animation all while making it one continuous video and really sharpened my skills.
